Instructions for the Fleece Blanket

Materials:

  • 1 1/2 yards print fleece
  • 1 1/2 yards solid contrasting fleece
  • Scissors
  • Tape measure or ruler

Tips: One blanket should cost $13.77 if you purchase fleece on sale at Hancock or Joann Fabrics. Their fleece has been on sale for the past 6 weeks.

1) (recommended but not required) Wash the fabric in cold water and dry in the dryer.

2) Lay both pieces of fleece on a flat surface so that the wrong sides are together (both right sides are facing out) and trim all around the edges so that each piece is even.

3) Cut out a 4" square from each corner.

4) Cut slits all the way around that are 4" deep and approximately 1" apart. You should cut through both layers of fleece at one time. Using a ruler or yardstick will help to insure you are cutting the strips the correct width and length.

5) Now is the time you can carefully pick up the blanket and go to the couch to do the tying. Be careful not to let the fabric separate. Keeping the two strands together, raise them up and then bring them back through the circle, from the back to the front. If you have a difficult time with this type of knot just do what works for you. Make sure to tie a firm but not tight knot. You want it to be fluffy, not real real tight. The knot should be close to the actual blanket. Continue knotting each of the pairs all the way around.

6) The knot should be close to the actual blanket. Continue knotting each of the pairs all the way around.

The back looks great too!
